I want to write an SGA version of Absolute Boyfriend. Can't you picture it? John is the one who orders a robot boyfriend off the internet on a whim. Rodney is the childhood friend who lives next door. Ronon is the sexbot.

Who will John choose? The friend who's had a crush on him since childhood? Or the robot programmed to love him and be the perfect boyfriend, but who is slowly developing his own personality?

Guys. I want this like burning.

I never read fandomsecrets unless someone on my flist points things out. Today it was gblvr who pointed out this secret. She was squicked, but I immediately went "oooh". So yeah, now I'm thinking about Rodney/Jeannie. :)

Also yes to this secret. Seven of Nine/Doctor, man. I wouldn't call myself "incredibly disappointed", but I liked them together and was bummed that she got with Chakotay, of all people (who should have been with Janeway). My love for Woolsey on SGA is entirely because of him being the Doctor.

And since I'm linking stuff, take a look at these awesome badmanips of Top Gear guys as fauns. Srsly. The last one is best. Car/faun babies FTW.

Check this out. It's a manga called Let's Bible, in which Jesus is a hot chick and Satan is a stereotypical Mexican, complete with poncho, and someone who might be Judas is a gothloli girl. (ETA: You can download the whole manga (translated) here.)

Really, all you can say to that is: oh, Japan.

I really liked this comment, though: Sometimes I wonder if mangaka get ideas by throwing something heavy at a bookshelf and mixing together whatever falls off. "A copy of the Bible, books on Croatia and Mexico, and a little sea turtle keychain...? Eureka! I've got it!" Like the low-tech version of a Plot Generator.

And telesilla had the idea to make that into a fic meme. So here you go.

What you do:
1. Go look here for pics of the knick-knacks in my computer room (click for larger versions if you can't see everything in the annotated versions). For the purposes of this meme, consider everything with a comment to it to be a knick-knack.
2. Comment with a knick-knack I should use.
3. Tell me what fandom you want (and characters, if you want to get more specific). It can be any fandom I'm familiar with, whether or not I normally write fic for it.

What I do:
1. Close my eyes and pick two books from the shelf at random.
2. Hit up Wikipedia for a random article.
3. Write up a summary of wacky (or not so wacky) AU using the books, article, knick-knack, and fandom.

So I finally finished the script of doom around 6pm yesterday, then went to bed and slept til 3am, yay. I have no work at the moment, but I have a lot of stuff on my to-do list and am really behind on my lyrics site (I didn't update last weekend at all), so I'm hoping that they'll have some more game scripts for me, but not right away, giving me a little time to catch up on stuff first. If they don't...well, I'll just have to try harder to find some other work. I've been poking around on Craigslist daily for the past couple weeks but not found anything. I check all the major cities in the US as well as Tokyo and Osaka (the only two Japanese cities on there), 'cause a lot of translation work can be done over the internet, so no need to be in the same city as the ad.

In family news, I got an email from my mom yesterday that Lorén might be moving back with her mom. Backstory: my mom's husband Tom has two daughters, Stephani and Michelle, who live up north. Stephani has three daughters, Alexis, Lorén, and Kayla, and is not the best parent ever by a long shot. She has always blamed all her problems in life on Lorén, and three years ago, threatened to put Lorén, then thirteen, in foster care unless my mom and Tom took her. They weren't thrilled about the idea, but they took her in. She has ADD and has had a lot of trouble in school because of it and is just generally fucked up in a lot of ways because her crap home situation, but she was doing well at my mom's and for a while doing a lot better in school.

But despite the fact that her mom has made it clear over and over again for years that she doesn't want her, Lorén still loves her and wants to live with her. Recently she got in a fight with Tom over something and Tom also got in a fight with Stephani, who kept trying to tell him and my mom how to raise Lorén (wtf?), and he told her, "If you’re going to try to run things you might as well take her back". So, long story short, although Tom and Lorén ended up making up, she was already planning on going up there for Spring Break and unless Stephani says she can't come back to live with her or Lorén changes her mind before then, she's going to stay up there.

My mom and Tom have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, she definitely has a better life with them than she did with her mom. Though things might be better this time. Stephani is no longer trying to make them commute from Stockton to Oakland (it's another long story as to why she was doing that, but basically it was stupid to move to Stockton) every day for school and work (which is over an hour drive with no traffic, but obviously she was commuting during rush hour, which meant much longer), and one of Lorén's sisters, Alexis, no longer lives with them, so hopefully that would mean Lorén and Kayla could get along better (it used to be Kayla and Alexis bullied Lorén pretty badly, and of course since Stephani was predisposed to believe everything was Lorén's fault, there was pretty much nothing stopping them). But my mom and Tom would really like not to have a teenager in the house, and it would mean money was less tight for them not to have her there. So who knows. Hopefully things will work out for the best whatever happens.

Moving on to fannish stuff, today is the last day to submit prompts for lgbtfest. I just submitted a second batch a bit ago. I have a few other ideas, but I'm not sure how to phrase them or what fandoms I want, so I may just keep them to myself for now. All of these are ideas I've had for a while (in the case of the Crabbe or Goyle one, a couple years) and while of course I'd like to write them all myself, I don't know that I will, so I figured might as well submit them. After all, I can always claim one myself if I really want to. :)

2. Fic post! I have a fic I wrote that is back from beta and has been sitting in my inbox for a while because I was too busy with work to think about things like title and summary and posting.

3. Porn post! I want to write up the plot of the game I just translated and also talk about it a little bit.

4. Candy post! I ate a bunch of Japanese KitKats. Now I will tell you about them!

So I saw this meme around:

01. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.

03. Write a ficlet related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the ficlet; you start when the song starts, and stop when it's over. No lingering afterwards!

But wow, how impossible is that!? But I do love getting inspiration from music, so I thought I'd modify it to be:

1. Put your music on shuffle
2. Think of a plot bunny for the song that comes up
3. Repeat ten times

That still turned out to be too hard, as I kept getting songs I didn't know or that I couldn't think of anything for at all. And after five good songs, I gave up in frustration. But I figured I'd post the five I have. Thing is, they're all vague. I could do them in any fandom. I might, actually. Not that I don't have enough ideas already. They're mostly Stuff That Fandom Wouldn't Like, though, which means less motivation for me to actually write them.

*Actually I had one the other day, which I then wrote about 200 words on, in which John and Rodney are teens at camp. Perhaps I should ammend that to be "an idea in which you are not a teen or a tranny OR BOTH". Although then I would probably be LYING.

Mainly this is for my own benefit, so I don't have to keep the mail in my inbox for months.

kakeochi_umai's request: At the end of the Deathly Harros one of Harry's spawn (I forget which) is saying he hopes he doesn't end up in Slytherin and you said that sucked because not all Slytherins are evil (which we saw with Snape) and that you wanted to write a fic where Harry-spawn ended up in Slytherin and ended up realising that and liking it. Did you ever write that? If so, could you do that for my auction? I'm not really fussed on any specifics, but I do tend to prefer your funny stuff to your dark stuff, so yeah.

I have an idea brewing already, so it shouldn't be hard. :) I'll probably end up writing it a lot sooner than the deadline, too, or at least I hope so.


In the meantime, it turns out the day I wanted to have a fic done for 14valentines is the 5th, so I'd better get on that, argh. (I so did not authorise it to be almost February yet!)

I really need to make an icon (or several) for this show! Anyone know where I can get some good caps?

3. But right now I need to finish up my Yuletide NYR fic. Sign-ups are supposedly starting in a few days, so I'd better have it posted by then! The good: I have most of it thought out in my head. The bad: is it 1000 words? I don't know. I also don't know what I will add in if it isn't. Bah.

Um. SO. You remember the other day I said I would write ficlets and then I started writing this one and things have gotten out of hand! It is all very much fallingfortruth's fault for requesting "Frank/Gerard, gender identity".

I'm not actually going to post this fic as a WiP, but since I said I would try to post everyone's requests by the end of the month, I'm posting the first scene as a teaser. Characterisation concrit is welcome, as my handle on these guys is still shaky and based entirely on other people's fic and a few interviews I watched last night on youtube. (Other concrit welcome, too, but mind this is rough and unbetaed and all I did was spellcheck.)

Obviously I need an MCR icon, but here, have Brandon Flowers instead. At least it's music-related!

So, okay. Today coming back from the post office I had a crackfic idea based on, of all things, Beyoncé's Irreplaceable.

You see, it has these lyrics in the chorus:

I could have another you in a minute

I can have another you by tomorrow
So don't you ever for a second get to thinking you're irreplaceable

And so I started thinking about it literally, like, maybe she has a whole closet full of clones of her boyfriend!

So I'm thinking something John/Rodney. Ruth was saying it's too bad I missed the doppleganger challenge on sga_flashfic, but the new challenge is dating, which could work, too. *ponders*
