| Bio: | Contents: I mainly post about my job, my life, books/manga/fic/TV/films/music I'm currently enjoying (or not enjoying, as the case may be). I like the occasional survey sort of meme, but despise those picture memes and quizzes of any sort. I also have a j-pop lyrics website, which I tend to blather on about quite a lot. I tend to post a lot. Usually once a day at the very least. Sometimes I get spammy and it can be four, five, six times a day. Music: I believe in music trading. In fact, I feel very strongly about it. I have bought so many albums and fallen in love with so many bands whom I never would have heard of if not for downloads. My site has pretty much unlimited bandwith allotment, so feel free to download to your heart's content. You don't have to comment when you download, but I'd love to hear what you think about the music if you do. Fandoms: Recently I've started watching TV again after years of not, and I'm currently watching The Simpsons, Ugly Betty, Stargate: Atlantis, and Supernatural, though I am enjoying the latter two less and less. Manga series I'm currently reading are FullMetal Alchemist, Prince of Tennis, D.Grey-man, Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh, Beck, Meitantei Conan, 7 Seeds, Fruits Basket, Nana, and a few others. I tend to talk a lot about what I'm watching and reading, which extends to books and films as well (though alas, there's a lot fewer of those). I am maybe sorta getting back into watching Japanese dramas after a years-long break, too. I also maintain the Transfic Master List, a multi-fandom listing of fic featuring trans (and intersex) characters. For more info please see the description in the post. If you know of any fics that aren't on the list, please let me know! Writing: I am unashamedly multi-fannish in my writing. I don't feel like I have one main writing fandom right now. So far this year I've only repeated one fandom. I have a zillion and one ideas and not nearly enough time to write them. My stories tend to be about queer people, lately with a conscious focus on transfolk, because damn it, fandom needs more of that. I like talking about my writing as much as I love actually writing. My website is sadly still not up to date, as I am in the process of revamping it. I do keep a list of everything I've written, chronologically, or you can find things by fandom in my tags. I also write Ewan McGregor in The Establishment. Recs & Reviews: I read a fair amount of fic in a wide variety of fandoms, and I write reviews of every fic I read. These reviews will not always be favorable. I believe in treating fic the same as I'd treat a book or film I wanted to talk about and my standards for fic are quite high. All reviews should be treated as if they contain spoilers. I put a short blurb with my general opinion in the cut tag, but anything under the cut is fair game. I keep my reviews well-organised and tag them by fandom and by year in which I reviewed them. Fics I review are rated on a scale of 1-5 and the fours and fives tagged with a red "recommended" next to them. However, this system was only recently implemented and I haven't yet had a chance to go back and add that info to the old reviews. Below is the scale I use to review fics. I always try to be clear about why I have rated a particular fic the way I did. 1/5 - Fics I disliked because the writing was bad. These fics had some major problems and not much to balance it out. (However, occasionally I will rate a well-written or decently-written fic a 1 if I find it really offensive.) You can find them all by fandom in my tags. In addition, my del.icio.us page has a list of to-read fics tagged. As I read them, I will go in and add a rating, summary, and abbreviated review. Commenting: I don't expect everyone to comment on every entry. Sometimes there's not anything to say, you know? But I do love discussion (both agreement and disagreement) and just chatting with people, so please feel free to comment if something catches your interest. I don't really get the lurker mindset and I'm afraid I never will, but lurking is okay, too. I'm certainly not going to defriend anyone just because they don't comment, but bear in mind that if you just lurk and never say a word, I will likely not friend you back. Friending: This journal is not friends-only. In fact, I very rarely post anything locked. If you would like me to friend you back, for God's sake, please speak up. If you friend me and never post a single comment, I have no way of knowing whether you want to be friended back or not. For more info on my friending policy, see here. PSA: If I ever comment on your journal and ask if you can please cut your giant photos or HTML-fuxoring quizzes or whatever is messing up my flist, and then you notice I've defriended you? It's just temporary so I can, you know, READ MY FLIST. This is especially true if you're in a hugely different time zone from me, or if you're in my own time zone and it's the middle of the night or there's some other reason I expect you might not respond right away. There really is no hidden agenda. I know friending is fraught with...whatever, but it really is much easier to defriend/refriend than to create a filter and then actually remember to use that filter when I obsessively refresh my flist.
